Meet Mel — The Heart Behind Kids Biz
Learning should feel safe, supportive, and inspiring.
I created Kids Biz because I saw how often bright, creative children felt misunderstood in traditional learning spaces—and how much they thrive when they’re seen, heard, and met exactly where they are.
With a Master’s in Educational Leadership and over twenty years’ experience teaching across primary schools, high schools, and universities, I’ve witnessed first-hand how powerful it is when learning is tailored to the child—not the other way around.
At Kids Biz, I blend emotional regulation, entrepreneurial thinking, and community awareness to help children grow in confidence and curiosity.
Each session—online or in-person—is a space for them to experiment, problem-solve, and celebrate who they are, while learning the tools to manage big feelings and think creatively about the world around them.
Program Overview by Term
Each term at Kids Biz builds upon the last, guiding children through a journey of self-awareness, creativity, and community connection. Across four terms, they’ll grow in confidence, emotional regulation, and entrepreneurial thinking—developing both life skills and a sense of purpose.
Children explore who they are, what makes them unique, and how to recognise their strengths. They learn practical emotional regulation tools to navigate big feelings and build inner confidence.
Children turn interests into ideas, learning the foundations of entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and problem-solving — without pressure or hustle.
Children work in teams to design projects that solve real-world problems, building communication, teamwork, and confidence in their voice.
Children explore how they can contribute to their community through empathy, service, and action — celebrating growth, confidence, and belonging.
Real Stories, Real Transformations
Parents consistently tell us they see greater confidence, calmer emotional responses, and renewed excitement for learning.

Which of these stories will be your child's...
Your child goes from feeling out of place in the school system to discovering a space where their ideas, creativity, and way of learning are celebrated.
Your child goes from struggling to connect socially to feeling confident speaking, collaborating, and being part of a supportive community that truly sees them.
Your child goes from doubting their abilities to proudly recognising their strengths and unique talents — and feeling excited to learn again.
Your child goes from being easily overwhelmed or frustrated to understanding their emotions and learning simple tools to feel calm and in control.
Your child goes from having brilliant ideas but not knowing where to start, to bringing their own projects to life — feeling capable, curious, and proud.
Your child goes from feeling misunderstood or left behind to realising they belong, their voice matters, and they have something valuable to offer the world.
If you’re reading this and feeling seen, trust that instinct.

Frequently asked questions:
How does the online program work?
KidsBiz Online is designed to be simple, supportive, and engaging for both children and parents.
Each week, your child:
Works through age-appropriate activities on our private online platform at their own pace
Attends a live 45-minute Zoom session with me and a small group of peers
The live sessions focus on emotional regulation, confidence-building, collaboration, and guided project work. Children are supported to share ideas, ask questions, and learn in a way that feels safe and encouraging.
Small group sizes ensure every child is seen, heard, and supported.
What if we can’t attend the weekly Zoom session?
We understand that families are busy and schedules don’t always align perfectly.
If your child misses a Zoom session, they can still engage with the weekly content and activities on the online platform. While live sessions are where connection and collaboration happen, missing an occasional session won’t put your child behind.
If attendance becomes a regular challenge, we can chat about whether the program is still the right fit for your family.
Will my child still feel connected and supported online?
Yes — connection and emotional safety are at the heart of KidsBiz Online.
Sessions are intentionally kept small so children can build relationships, feel comfortable sharing, and receive individual encouragement. I actively support shy, sensitive, or hesitant children to participate at their own pace — never forcing, always encouraging.
Many parents are surprised by how quickly children feel connected in the online space.
What kind of technology do we need?
All you need is:
A device with internet access (laptop or tablet preferred)
A webcam and microphone (if not already included in the laptop)
Access to Zoom
The online platform is simple to navigate and child-friendly. If you ever need support accessing materials, I’m always happy to help.
Is the online program suitable for children who attend school full-time?
Absolutely.
KidsBiz Online is designed as an enrichment program that complements school learning rather than adding pressure. Sessions focus on emotional regulation, confidence, creativity, and real-world skills — areas often missed in traditional classrooms.
Many school-aged children find KidsBiz refreshing because it’s interactive, supportive, and very different from school-based learning.
Can I attend just for one week?
KidsBiz is designed as a term-based program so children can build confidence, relationships, and skills over time.
For this reason, we don’t offer casual or one-off attendance. The real value of KidsBiz comes from consistency, trust, and progression throughout the term.
If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, I recommend starting with one term and seeing how your child responds.
What happens if we go away during the term?
Life happens — and flexibility is important.
If your child misses a session due to travel or family commitments, they can still access weekly activities through the online platform. We simply encourage children to rejoin when they’re able and continue engaging at their own pace.
What is provided?
KidsBiz Online includes:
Weekly live Zoom sessions
Access to a private online learning platform
Guided activities and projects
Emotional regulation tools and confidence-building strategies
Ongoing encouragement and support
Everything is designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and easy to follow at home.
What if my child is shy, nervous, or finds new situations daunting?
KidsBiz is especially supportive for shy, sensitive, or hesitant children.
There is no pressure to perform, speak before they’re ready, or “be confident.” Children are gently supported to build trust, participate at their own pace, and celebrate small wins.
Many parents tell me their child feels calmer, more confident, and more willing to try new things after just a few sessions.
What qualifications and experience does Mel have?
I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and have over 20 years’ experience teaching across primary schools, high schools, and universities.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with children who learn differently, feel deeply, or struggle to thrive in traditional systems. KidsBiz was created to offer a space where children are supported, celebrated, and guided to grow in confidence and curiosity — exactly as they are.
